Book: A Grain of Rice, an Album of Photographs (1985, Kihara Institute for Biological Research)
This is an autobiography penned by Kihara at the age of 92. The first chapter, ‘the learning period’, contains many photographs. It also contains recollections of his teachers and classmates at Hokkaido University, and describes the ethos of the university at the time. Kihara also discusses the circumstances that inspired him to pursue wheat research. The Wheat Research Memorial Stone is located by the Department of Science on the west side of the museum.
