Notes (Mazur & Ohara, 2000b).

The genus Theropatina Mazur is included only one species, oussagari. The genus is distinguished form other member of the tribe Platysomatini by the large body size and the strong curved lateral metasternal stria. Theropatina should be move to the tribe Omalodini or the tribe Histerini, because not only the general appearance looks like members of the tribes but also the structure of aedeagus of the male genitalia (except median lobe) is typical of the tribes. The reason included the genus in the tribe Platysomatini has been the S-shaped tarsal groove on protibia (Mazur, 1984 and 1997), but this character-state is not stable in the tribe and also excludes in his key of Mazur (1990). The genus probalby is the most primitive member of the tribes Histerini and/or Omalodini for the reason that it has the simple strucutre of median lobe of the male genitalia and the strong curved lateral metasternal stria.

Distribution. Tropical Africa (Tanzania).
