Sternoglyphus decorsei Desbordes, 1916: 476; Mazur & Ohara, 2000: xx.

Redescription (Mazur & Ohara, 2000a).

Body cylindrical (Fig. ), dark brown with blue metallic luster; antennal club and tarsi yellowish brown. Body length in mm: PPL 7.39; PEL 6.60; APW 2.31; PPW 2.90; PL 3.10; EL 3.50; EW 3.00; ProL 1.32; ProW 3.5; PyL 1.45; PTL 1.45; MSTL 1.32; MTTL 1.45.

Ratio in width of pronotum to head 1.29. Front of head (Fig. ) slightly depressed; surface sparsely and coarsely punctate, the punctures separated by about one to five times their diameter, and interspace among the coarse punctures intermingled with fine punctures; the course punctures becoming finer anteriorly. Frontal stria shortly impressed along eyes on each lateral side. Labrum transverse, the anterior margin straight. One denticle present inner margin. Suture of antennal club (Fig. ) almost straight but on outer edge on dorsal side strongly sinuate, the basal suture widely interrupted on ventral side.

Pronotal side almost parallel (Fig. ); disk convex; anterior margin broadly emarginate, the median portion straight; lateral margin strongly sinuate on lateral view; marginal stria complete and carinate laterally and posteriorly, and broadly interrupted anteriorly. Surface of pronotum irregularly, sparsely and coarsely covered with round and deep punctures which are separated by one to ten times their diameter; interspace among the coarse punctures evenly punctate finely.

Epipleura with two marginal striae; the outer stria impressed on median fourth and the inner one shortened on basal third. External subhumeral stria present on apical half. Oblique humeral stria slightly impressed on basal fourth. Each first to fifth dorsal striae represented by a row of coarse punctures; the punctures of the row of first to third striae becoming sparse on apical third. Sutural stria well impressed completely, the basal end curved outwardly and extended, and united the basal end of the first dorsal stria. Interspace between striae finely and sparsely punctate.

Propygidium evenly covered with large, round punctures which are separated by two to three times their diameter; interspace among the large punctures with fine punctures. Punctation of pygidium similar to that of propygidium but the coarse punctures becoming sparser apically.

Prosternal lobe (Fig. ) convex on median and latero-anterior area, without punctures; anterior margin truncate medially and strongly carinate; marginal stria present on median third. Prosternal process with complete carinal striae, the striae divergent posteriorly; posterior margin of process regularly arcuate outwardly. Lateral prosternal stria well impressed and carinate. Surface of lateral area of prosternum densely covered with large, deep and round punctures.

Anterior margin of mesosternum emarginate arcuately and covered with posterior end of prosternal process; marginal mesosternal stria not clear, but impressed anteriorly; surface of intercoxal disk with several irregular shaped, large and shallow punctures medially. Meso-metasternal suture impressed with coarse punctures and angulate at middle. Post-mesocoxal stria absent. Lateral metasternal stria extended obliquely, the apical end finished at half of length of metasternum. Intercoxal disk of metasternum coarsely punctate along median suture and in latero-posterior area, the remain area sparsely and finely punctate. Lateral disk densely covered with large and round punctures which are separated by about half of their diameter, the punctures becoming smaller and sparser posteriorly and along lateral metasternal stria, and interspace among the punctures finely punctate.

Intercoxal disk of 1st abdominal sternum sparsely covered with two kind of punctures, fine and coarse; lateral stria complete, sinuate and divergent posteriorly.

Protibia (Fig. ) with 4 spines on outer-lateral margin, the bases of apical three strongly dentate and basal one weakly; a pair of spines at inner angle and a small spine on apical margin which are visible from ventral side. Mesotibia (Fig. ) with 5 spines on outer margin, the base of apical 3 dentate; 3 spines on apical margin. Metatibia (Fig. ) with 2 spines on outer margin, the basal one small; 4 spines present on apical margin.

Male genitalia (Fig. ). Lateral part of posterior margin of 8th sternum lobelate. Lateral part of posterior margin of 9th sternum bilobelate; antero-lateral projection long. Spicule Y-letter shaped. Ratio in length of parameres to basal piece about 1.94. Lateral side of parameres almost paralleled and slight convergent apically; apical part of parameres bilobelate; slit on dorsal side present. Median lobe strongly sclerotized and with apical projection.
