Genus Microlister Lewis, 1905

Microlister Lewis, 1905e: 400 [Type species: Microlister coronatus Lewis, 1905e: 400].

Notes (Mazur & Ohara, 2000). . The genus Microlister Lewis is represented by only one species, coronatus, and characterized by peculiar frontal striae of head, also, easily distinguished by a combination of following character-states from the other members of the tribes Platysomatini and Histerini: (1) two frontal striae present, (2) suture of antennal club V-letter shaped, (3) tarsal groove of protibia S-letter shaped, (4) small body size and oval shape. Its systematic position, however, is very complicated, because Microlister has character-states of the both tribes, Platysomatini and Histerini; e.g. (2), (3), (5) simple median lobe of male genitalia and (6) lateral metasternal stria extended straight and posteriorly, not attained to meteepisternal suture, are useful states for the tribe Platysomatini (Kryzhanonvskij, 1972 and Mazur, 1990), on the other hand, (7) parameres of male genitalia not fused on dorsal side and (8) a spiny row on ventral surface of meso- and metatibae, are general state of the member of the tribe Histerini. We guess the genus is probably closely related to the genus Theropatina and also a primitive member of the tribes Histerini and/or Platysomatini.

Distribution. Tropical Africa (Eastern, central and western Africa).
