Orginal description. "Ovatus, niger, nitidus; fronte impressa, stria integra; pronoti stria laterali interna integra, externa abbreviata; elytria striis 1. - 3. dorsalibus integris, 4. et 5. et suturali brevivus; propygidio punctato, subfoveolato; pygidio apice subtiliter punctato; mesosterno marginato, basi non sinuato. L. 2.75 - 3 lin.

Much smaller than sibiricus, Mars., to which section it belongs; it may be recognized by the finer punctation of the pygidium (in some specimens almost smooth at the apex), and by the mesosternum having no notch to admit the prosternum.
