Finding Your Way

The Museum is located on the Hokkaido University campus about 10 minutes by foot from the north entrance of Sapporo Station, midway between the statue of Dr. William S. Clark and the Avenue of the Poplars.

Automobiles are not allowed on Hokkaido University grounds, so you will need to come by bus, subway, or other public transportation.

Barrier-free entrance

Please use the intercom before manipulate the wheel chair lift.  Ask the detail to the museum office and the reception desk.

Wheelchairs and strollers

Wheelchairs and strollers available.*  *Please inquire at the reception desk on the first floor.

Accessible lavatory

A multi-purpose wheelchair-accessible lavatory outfitted with a diaper-changing station is available on the first and second floor. Sink Apparatus for Ostomate is available at the first floor lavatory.

Hand luggage and bags

Coin lockers are available for patron use next to the history exhibition room on the left hand side of the first floor entrance. You will need a ¥100 coin in order to use a locker, but this will be refunded to you once you return the key and remove your items.

Advanced Reservations

Advanced reservations are not required for visits to the Museum. However, we kindly request that individuals arranging group tours of the Museum (excluding visits by high schools) submit the Visitor Application Form below to the Museum Affairs Supervisor of the Administrative Section, Graduate School of Physical and Life Sciences Administration Department.

Individuals applying to teach lessons at the Sapporo Agricultural College Model Dairy Farm should indicate this as their purpose for visiting the Museum. All paperwork should be submitted at least one week in advance of planned visits.

Photos of specimens and materials

The personal use of photos or videos taken of display specimens, explanatory panels, or the like are normally allowed, but for secondary use of such photos or images (such as in a publication), please review the bylaws governing use of the Museum, fill out the required paperwork, and submit these documents to the Museum Affairs Supervisor in the Administrative Section to obtain formal permission for your secondary use.
